Coins, Advice and Information for Amateur Collectors

Lincolns in all their colors.

Welcome. Nothing to buy, no junk emails or pleas for support. Enjoy your visit.

Latest: See the Coin Riddles page on the $10 Lincoln that sold for $5,000+. See Coin Articles for CAC - is it folly or genius? As always — new coins in the Coin Cabinet.

Only casually monitoring the auctions. Prices continue to be elevated. Trying to remember the adage of buy low sell high.

In the News:

U.S. mint to issue no commemorative coins in 2023. Quite a break from their usual pace.

Although enrolled in several programs with the mint for items like the annual silver proof set nothing has shown up the last two years. No way to run a business.

PCGS and NGC both have new owners and new leadership. We’ll see if anything changes.

A parade of Old Green Holders. The Christopher Collection has a weakness for CAC OGH or Old Green Holders — especially those with gold stickers. For those new to collecting coins in OGH’s are from the early years of PCGS before plus grades and (according to many) looser grading standards. The really early OGH holders are smaller (see the 1917-D Lincoln at the end). A gold sticker means CAC considers the coin “under graded”. Scroll through some of The Christopher Collection below.
